President Abdel Fattah El Sisi meeting that included Prime Minister, Minister of housing, utilities and urban communities Dr. Moustafa Madbouly; the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt; as well as the ministers of defense; endowments; foreign affairs; petroleum; immigration and Egyptian expatriates affairs; justice; higher education and scientific research; transport; finance; interior; health and population; communications and information technology, in addition to the director of the General Intelligence Service and the head of the Administrative Control Authority.

The meeting reviewed efforts exerted to upgrade the road and highway network in Egypt. The President stressed the need to continue working to upgrade transportation in Egypt by expanding the application of smart transport systems on new roads, given their positive impact on the safety of vehicle drivers and the improvement of services.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to protect the state property from infringements. The President stated the need to continue confronting all violations to protect the rights of the state and the public. He stressed using the law in addressing these issues as well as making the best use of state assets through good management and governance.

On projects to develop fisheries, the President instructed the need to continue supporting projects that yield high outstanding production rates.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to develop Egypt’s oil, natural gas and mineral resources so as to increase local production and reduce imports. The President emphasized the need to continue developing refineries to increase the efficiency of operation and raise the quality of petroleum products. The meeting also touched on the status of mega national projects underway across the country, including infrastructure and new urban communities’ projects. The President stressed the need to abide by the timetables set for completing these projects, in line with the highest international standards.

The President and officials also discussed the government’s efforts to upgrade the health sector and reviewed developments pertinent to the President’s initiative to detect Hepatitis C and non-communicable diseases and to end waiting lists for patients awaiting urgent surgery. The President underlined the need for coordination among various state institutions to follow up on the implementation of the initiative so as to eliminate the disease and to end the waiting lists of patients who require critical surgical interventions.

The President was also briefed on the government’s efforts to attend to the needs of the Egyptian expatriates and stay in contact with them. The President highlighted the need to solve issues that expatriates face and benefit from their expertise in the state’s development efforts.

The meeting also reviewed a number of issues related to Egypt’s foreign relations and political developments at the international and regional levels, particularly the results of the recent visit by the minister of foreign affairs and director of the General Intelligence to Khartoum.
